The Greater Merrimack Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMVCVB) was incorporated in 1992. The Greater Merrimack Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau is officially recognized by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) as one of the State's sixteen (16) Regional Tourism Councils established by the Legislature to market the region as a premier travel destination.
Our primary mission is to enhance the economic fabric of the Greater Merrimack Valley by marketing the region as a destination for leisure travel, meetings and conventions, trade shows, special events and group tours. A professional staff manages the GMVCVB with the Executive Director responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency. The Bureau's office is located at 61 Market Street, Unit 1C, Lowell, MA 01852 and the phone number is (978) 459-6150.
As one of Massachusetts 16 legislatively-recognized Regional Tourism Councils, the GMVCVB works in concert with the other councils and the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) to promote the Commonwealth and increase the number of overnight visitors to the region.
The GMVCVB is a private, not for profit, membership-based organization responsible for the promotion of the Greater Merrimack Valley as a travel destination. Membership is by application and is available to businesses as well as other not-for-profit organizations interested in the promotion of tourism.
A nineteen (19) member Board of Directors is elected annually and meets monthly to set policies and long-range objectives for the organization.
Tourism is the third largest industry in the State of Massachusetts generating over 17.7 billion dollars in revenue annually.
