Join Historic New England Young Friends members for a hipsters’ 1968 theme party at the icon of Modernism, Gropius House. Enjoy live jazz performed by the Bill O’Connor Trio, light refreshments, and period-appropriate cocktails along with an evening tour. 1968 hipster dress is encouraged. Susan Bennett and Elaine Doran of the Lexington Historical Society and the Lextopia exhibit were the featured guests.

During this evening slide show and house tour, see how Walter Gropius’ innovative lighting scheme comes to life at night. Gropius, founder of the German design school known as the Bauhaus, was one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century. His 1938 home showcases the clean, contemporary lines of Modern design. Light refreshments provided.
