Opened and dedicated on Jan. 27, 1998, the center proudly bears the name of the late Senator Paul E. Tsongas, a Lowell native.

We are one of Massachusetts finest venues providing quality entertainment for all ages. The center is home to the NCAA Division I UMass-Lowell River Hawks Hockey and Basketball teams.

In addition to exciting hockey action, the center hosts concerts, family shows, sporting events, tradeshows and conferences. Some of the world’s biggest stars have performed before capacity crowds. We can seat 6,500 patrons for hockey and up to 7,800 for concerts without losing the intimate feeling needed for a memorable experience.

The Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell is a full service, multi-purpose venue serving the region. It also features a beautifully landscaped outdoor area, function rooms overlooking the Merrimack River and a spacious lobby. The center is perfect for all types of events – whether they be business meetings or major shows! The venue also now boasts a state-of-the-art video board, 500 Feet of LED signage, and a brand new sound system.
