12 Great Golf Courses In The Merrimack Valley Area

For many, this warmer weather signifies their favorite time of the year–the golf season! So today’s blog is for all of our golfers out there. 

Below, you’ll find 12 great places to hit the links (in alphabetical order). Think you can explore them all before the year is up?

Andover Country Club (60 Canterbury Street, Andover, MA)

The Andover Country Club has been in business for over 90 years. According to their website, “this 18-hole golf course has been recognized as one of New England’s finest.” The 18-hole course has recently seen re-grassing and bunker renovations over the past few years. So if you haven’t been in a while, now is a great time to revisit! 

The club invites golfers of all skill levels and also offers private lessons, but be sure to check the dress code before heading out.

Butter Brook Golf Club (157 Carlisle Road, Westford, MA)

The Butter Brook Golf Club features an over 210-acre course that takes golfers on a journey through rolling hills, beautiful ponds, a babbling brook, and tall pine trees. The course welcomes weekend and competitive golfers alike. Butter Brook also hosts lessons with golf professionals, practice facilities, and junior golf clubs.

Butternut Farm Golf Club (115 Wheeler Road, Stow, MA)

The Butternut Farm Golf Club touts its 18-hole golf course as “a thinking golfer’s course.” The course also features the “longest hole in the country without a sand trap.” In addition, Butternut Farm prides itself on having a pristine, well-maintained course, fantastic dining at its on-site restaurant, and a professional and personal staff on hand.

Chelmsford Country Club (66 Park Road, Chelmsford, MA)

The Chelmsford Country Club is a beginner-friendly 9-hole golf course right off of Rt. 27. Here, golfers of experience levels can find a fantastic course with “pure bent hand mowed greens, lush fairways and rough and one of the most fun golf courses to play, no matter your skill level.” The country club also contains a practice range, a pro shop, an on-site bar and grille, and various youth programs.

Country Club of Billerica (51 Baldwin Road, Billerica, MA)

The Country Club of Billerica features an 18-hole public golf course, complete with 2 practice greens, a golf school, and a driving range. This country club’s primary focus is to provide “an enjoyable, quality and affordable venue to learn, practice, and play the game of a lifetime.” And be sure to check out the 19th Hole Grille & Sports Bar, with both a family-friendly restaurant area and a lounge.

Four Oaks Country Club (80 Meadow Creek Drive, Dracut, MA) 

Renovated and reopened in 2013, the Four Oaks Country Club features 18 holes of golf across its course grounds. Here, visitors also have opportunities to take part in private lessons with on-site golf instructors, visit the pro shop, and dine at the club’s upscale Italian restaurant. 

Nabnasset Lake Country Club (47 Oak Hill Road, Westford, MA)

The Nabnasset Lake Country Club is a private 9-hole golf course that offers league play for both men and women during weekdays alongside a complete tournament schedule through the golf season. At the Members Lounge & Patio, club members can relax on NLCC’s patio, complete with a fire pit, or grab a drink and play pool inside. The country club also offers its own pro shop and member-only events.

Pine Meadows Golf Course (255 Cedar Street, Lexington, MA)

The Pine Meadows Golf Course is a 9-hole course that is actually owned by the Town of Lexington and managed by the New England Golf Corporation. The course is known locally for its challenging yet accessible layout friendly for all skill levels. The course is located only 5 minutes from Rt. 128 and Rt. 2 and is only 15 minutes from Boston, MA.

Quail Ridge Country Club (49 Skyline Drive, Acton, MA)

The Quail Ridge Country Club is a 9 hole course that “uses a traditional, classic design approach that leverages the natural beauty of its secluded New England surroundings.” Here, visitors can golf their way through 94-acres of beautiful landscapes, creating a classic and serene golfing experience. The club also has a family center that features fitness groups, tennis, footgolf, pool, and various kids’ camp programming. 

Stow Acres Country Club (58 Randall Road, Stow, MA)

Stow Acres Country Club is a “must-play public golf destination in eastern New England.” This country club features two 18-hole courses that surround its clubhouse–which just so happens to be a renovated Victorian-era antique building. The country club also features its own Pro Shop, driving range, practice area, and on-site restaurant. In addition, those looking to up their game can attend various golf school programs, including junior and adult programs.

Swanson Meadows Golf Course (216 Rangeway Road, North Billerica, MA)

This fun yet challenging 9-hole golf course is spread out across 2300-yards of scenic views, such as its rolling plush trees and hand-mowed greens. The course hosts various tournaments and league play alongside private outings.

Vesper Country Club (185 Pawtucket Blvd, Tyngsboro, MA)

The Vesper Country Club seeks to provide an “exceptional country club experience.” Here, golfers can find a gorgeous 18-hole golf course spread out across 6784 yards. The country club also has on-site practice facilities, PGA professional instruction, and junior programs. Other facilities at the club include tennis courts, a swimming pool, and various on-site dining options.
