Seeking Nominations for Because of Her Award

Lowell, Massachusetts – January 25, 2017 – The Lowell Women’s Week Committee is seeking

nominations for the 2017 Because of Her Awards. These awards honor women who often go

unrecognized, yet make significant contributions to their community or individuals within it, inspire

others with their courage in facing unusually challenging circumstances, perform exemplary service

outside of their work roles, or tackle long-term, persistent problems that impact their communities.

If you know such a woman in the Greater Lowell area, go to lowellwomensweek.org to download a

nomination form. Submit it by Friday, February 10, 2017, to Jennifer Demers, Girls Incorporated of

Greater Lowell, 220 Worthen Street, Lowell, MA 01852, email jdemers@girlsinclowell.org, or fax to

(978) 458-4837.

The person(s) chosen for the award will be honored at the Lowell Women’s Week annual breakfast on

Monday, March 6, 2017, at Lenzi’s, Rte. 110, Dracut. The breakfast is the kickoff event for Lowell

Women’s Week. Several events sponsored by local organizations will be held from March 5-March 12,

2017. If your organization would like to host a Women’s Week event, please email

joann_marcos@nps.gov or resi_polixa@nps.gov. Events, including relevant pre- and post-events, are

posted on the website l owellwomensweek.org. The list is updated as new events are submitted and

approved.

The Lowell Women’s Week is a component fund of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation.
