An Evening with the Mill Girls of Lowell
Lowell, MA.— Lowell National Historical Park and the Tsongas Industrial History Center present a very special evening of historical theater with Marcia Estabrook. Two Mill Girls: We Are Not Machines looks at the lives of two nineteenth century mill workers who have different perspectives on their work in the mills of Lowell. Mary Paul is “pro-mill,” and Sarah Bagley instigates turnouts and strikes. The program explores various topics, including labor history, prejudice, Victorian morals, women’s history and industrialization.
Marcia Estabrook has been portraying extraordinary historical women at schools, museums and theaters for more than 20 years. Through meticulous research and rehearsal, she transforms herself into dynamic characters from the past for her performances.
At the conclusion of the performance, please join us for a candlelight tour in the restored boardinghouse at the Mill Girls and Immigrants Exhibit with costumed interpretation, music performed on a 19th-century piano and refreshments.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Candlelight Tour of the exhibits in the Lowell National Historical Park restored boardinghouse.
