Lowell Heritage State Park

Bring your bike and your helmet to the park and ride along the two miles of beautiful waterfront as you pass the historic network of canals. These bike trails offer a picturesque view of nature within the city of Lowell.
If you’re a history enthusiast as well as a riding enthusiast, it’s a must-visit park, as you’ll be able to see the textile mills and waterways that literally put Lowell on the map during the Industrial Revolution. Lowell Heritage State Park is free and open to the public from sunrise to sunset, so when you’re in the mood to ride your bike, nothing is stopping you.
Bobby’s Ranch
Do you love riding horses but sadly don’t have the space to own one yourself? Well, you’ll be thrilled to know Bobby’s Ranch in Westford offers year-round horseback riding so you can hit the trails any time of year. All the well-loved and healthy horses live at the ranch and are ready to ride for visitors ages nine and up.
These guided western trail rides on the ranch’s beautiful horses are a fantastic way to get outside and don’t require riding experience. The trails are lovely in any season, whether it’s a warm summer day with the sun shining through the trees or a chilly winter afternoon with snow on the ground. Bruce Freeman Rail Trail
Another place to take your bike for a spin is the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. This trail follows the 25-mile route from the old New Haven Railroad Framingham & Railroad, winding through Lowell, Chelmsford, Westford, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, Sudbury, and Framingham. When riding along this trail, you’ll get to enjoy a variety of scenery, from suburban environments to rural wilderness.
Great Brook Farm State Park
Great Brook Farm State Park in Carlisle has more than 20 miles of trails that are great for both cycling and horseback riding. While you ride along these trails you could see Native American sites and local wildlife that calls the park home. It’s a scenic and serene way to experience the Greater Merrimack Valley’s natural beauty as you ride across 1000 acres of land.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset year-round. However, keep in mind if you’re driving to the park rather than riding your bike or even your horse that there are daily parking fees from April 1st through November 30th.
