LOCAL TALENT: A VEHICLE FOR SUPPORTING THE ARTS
Lowell, MA – The Brush Gallery and Studios (The Brush) in Lowell is pleased to announce “Cabaret Apollo,” which will include dinner and a performance. The fundraiser to support The Brush will take place at the Olympia Restaurant in Lowell, Massachusetts which has been in business for over sixty years. The Zorba room at the Olympia has hosted countless music groups and events.
The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with delicious Greek hors d’oeuvres and background music from Ralph Funero a well-known Greater New England musician. He has been a sought after “Keyboard” master, song writer, singer and entertainer popular to area audiences.
At 7:30 PM, dinner will be served and followed by a spicy array of singers and dancers including: Michael Lally, Janine Graham, Jerry Bisantz, and Janice Zawodny MillCityDance.
The performances will be emceed by Michael Lally, Founder and Director of the Standing Room Only (SRO) Players. He is also president of the Board of Directors for The Brush Art Gallery and Studios.
The “razzle-dazzle” of actor/singer Jerry Bisantz will be in the air at the event. In addition to being a playwright and artistic director of Image Theater Company, he has received awards ranging from “Best New Play” to “Excellence In Playwriting.” His most recent project: directing the “Old Jews Telling Jokes” area premier.
Janine Graham, another well-known Greater Boston area jazz Vocalist has performed all over New England and in Southern California. Originally from Lowell she has performed with some of the jazz world’s greatest musicians.
Janice Zawodny, the Director and Choreographer of MillCityDance brings her high energy troop of dancers to Cabaret Apollo. Zawodny, an original New England Patriots Cheerleader was also the choreographer of Michael Lally’s SRO Players.
“This event is a great collaboration of performance art and visual art working together for a cause,” said Jim Dyment, Executive Director of The Brush Art Gallery and Studios.
Dessert and dancing will follow the entertainment at 8:30 PM. The blind bid/silent auction and raffles spotlighting the work of the studio and associate artists will include: Deirdre Grunwald, Cynthia Hughes, Leslie MacPhail, Steve Noroian, Gay Tracy, Pamela Wamala, Nancy Wormwood, David Jones, Mary Rose O’Connell, and Will Winslow.
