Celebrate the End of School

School’s out for summer and the kids deserve a celebration. Whether it’s rewarding them for getting good grades or overcoming a difficult year, there are tons of ways to mark the end of the school year in Merrimack Valley. Plan a day out or even just an afternoon where your kids can play and spend time with you to commemorate another school year successfully completed.

Kimball Farm

Kimball Farm in Westford is exactly the place to go for summer family fun! There are over 50 acres of exciting outdoor activities, meaning you can spend an hour or the whole day having a blast. Bumper boats, mini-golf, batting cages, and more await excited kids and adults alike throughout the summer. Cool off with over 50 different flavors of homemade ice cream and start summer vacation off on a high note.

Wamesit Lanes Family Entertainment Center

Wamesit Lanes Family Entertainment Center in Tewksbury has exactly what you need to celebrate the end of the school year. Compete against each other in ten-pin and candle bowling. Win prizes and play games in the state-of-the-art arcade

Enjoy the summer air and the full FireWater tavern menu on the patio, and while you wait for the food to arrive, play patio games like Connect 4, Giant Jenga, and even huge chess and checkers. It’s a great way for the kids to kick off the summer.

Discovery Museum

School might be over, but that doesn’t mean your kids can’t still learn. What’s most important is that they play and have fun while doing so, which is why you should take them to the Discovery Museum in Acton. The STEAM-rich exhibits teach your kids science, math, art, and more through play and interactive activities. There are also the Discovery Woods, an outdoor learning space with a giant treehouse, play areas inspired by da Vinci’s inventions, and an inclusive and accessible outdoor playscape.

Before you leave, pick up a fun and educational gift at the Discovery Store. Your kids can choose from books, puzzles, science kits, and more that will keep them entertained and help them learn even when school isn’t in session.

Harvard Alpaca Ranch

Do your kids love animals? Harvard Alpaca Ranch in Harvard is where you can take them to meet happy and healthy alpacas. Stop by and meet the herd and learn about these cute and fluffy creatures, as well as the ultra-soft goodies their wool creates. They’ll fall in love with the cuddly alpaca plush toys in the shop, so they’re a great souvenir to take home with you.

The ranch offers alpaca visits/farm tours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at no charge. However, a donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child, or simply purchasing something from the Alpaca Shop, is encouraged. To arrange your tour of the ranch, which covers up to eight people, please book an appointment.

Have some fun with the kids this summer to celebrate the end of the school year. Treat them to a day out, some new toys, or even just an ice cream cone to let them know that you’re proud of them for all of their hard work.
