CITYSCAPES BY DAVE PHANEUF at TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar

Lowell, MA: Arts curator Mary Hart is pleased to announce an exhibition of pen and ink cityscapes by Dave Phaneuf, on display at TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar in downtown Lowell, from March 5 through May 31, 2018.
The public is invited to an opening reception on Thursday, March 15, from 7 to 9 PM.
Phaneuf’s subjects are the many historical edifices around Lowell. Antiquity, old buildings, bridges, roads, and stonewalls serve as inspiration for his drawings. “To me they are an expression of the passage of time,” he says. Dave’s palette is black and white and the huge range between them provide him with endless possibilities in his work.
Mary Hart adds, “the work reflects Dave’s sharp focus and singular attention to detail, even down to drawing the individual bricks, yet the pictures are imbued with the grace of the old architecture.”
Diners and fans of local architecture enjoy the views of ‘old’ Lowell at Middle and Palmer Streets through the almost floor to ceiling windows of the restaurant. With this exhibit, historical architecture is again reflected inside, upon the walls enlivened with Phaneuf’s drawings.
As a life-long Lowell artist Dave now works out of his home studio downtown. He attended Mass. Art and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpting and drawing in 1984. Dave is a member of the Arts League of Lowell and the Brush Art Gallery and his work has been exhibited in various area group shows.
TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar is located in the heart of historical downtown Lowell at 112 Middle Street and opens at 11:30 AM daily. It closes at 10 PM on Sunday – Tuesday, 10:30 PM Wednesday and Thursday and 11 PM on Friday and Saturday.
Mary Hart is a Lowell resident, an artist member of the Arts League of Lowell (ALL), the founder of Downtown Lowell First Thursdays, and an adjunct professor in the art department at Middlesex Community College.
