Creating Political Art –  with Marissa Chibas

Lowell, Mass. – In a year filled with controversial politics and dramatic events, Loading Dock Arts, Inc. will present two exciting programs featuring actor and writer Marissa Chibas. Both programs will be held at The Onyx Room 122 Western Avenue, Lowell, MA 01851

 

“Creating Political Art,” a lecture/ performance. Ms. Chibas will share excerpts from her recent plays and discuss her process of creating politically relevant theater. FridaySeptember 23, 2016, at 8pm. (Doors open at 7pm.)    Tickets: $15

 

“Artist Strategic Planning,” Ms. Chibas offers a workshop for creatives to help align their personal and artistic purpose on Saturday, September 24, 2-4pm    Tickets: $10.

 

Free Reception for the Artist on Saturday, September 4:30 – 6pm at The Loading Dock Gallery 122 Western Avenue, Lowell, MA 01851.

Ms. Chibas is a faculty member of the CalArts Theatre School, and founder and head of Duende CalArts, both part of the California Institute of the Arts located near Los Angeles, CA. Her recent accomplishments include “Shelter" performed in Los Angeles and at the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C. which tells the story of unaccompanied Central American child migrants seeking asylum in the United States, and “Daughter of a Cuban Revolutionary” her solo show which has been performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Mexico. In addition, she has presented her community “empowerment” workshops for diverse communities, and specifically for artists across all creative fields.
