DOWNTOWN LOWELL RESTAURANTS FEATURE THE WORK OF LOCAL ARTISTS

Lowell, MA: In a city brimming with artists and lots of restaurants with excellent walls to display art, it follows that a dining destination can become a visual adventure. Local community arts organizer, Mary Hart, is very pleased to announce the opening of two new art installations in downtown Lowell. David R. Jones at TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar and Blake Brasher at Mandarin Asian Bistro.
David R. Jones:
Since his years in Paris, France, in the 1970s, David R. Jones worked primarily in black and white ink drawing. It was only in the last decade, at the suggestion of an artist friend, that Jones switched to oils, combining intense color with meticulous line…and has never looked back. The selection of work at TreMonte includes work inspired by his travels and meditations on the human condition. As a full-time artist he creates unique works that he hopes “will speak to people in the depth of their being, bringing light to the imagination, the mind and the eyes.”
TreMonte Restaurant will host an opening reception for David R. Jones on Thursday, Nov 10, from 6 – 8 PM. Jones is active in the Arts League of Lowell and the Brush Art Gallery, where he is a studio member.
Blake Brasher:
Contemporary painter, Blake Brasher splits his time between a consulting job as a robotics researcher for Google and a prolific studio practice, producing at least 4 new paintings a week. Working on many small paintings at a time allows him to develop a theme and work out the details of media layering, color and proportion. This process enables the resulting larger painting to emerge. Brasher says his works are “an exploration of human consciousness.”
Mandarin Asian Bistro will host an opening reception for Blake Brasher on Sunday, Nov 13, from 4 – 6 PM. A former Industry Lab artist-in-residence in Cambridge, MA, works out of his Gates Block studio in Lowell. Both exhibits are curated by Mary Hart.
TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar is located at 44 Palmer Street; Mandarin Asian Bistro, a Chinese food and Sushi restaurant, is located at 24 Market Street, both in Lowell. Receptions are free and open to the public.
About Mary Hart: Mary Hart is a Lowell resident, an artist member of the Arts League of Lowell (ALL), the founder of Downtown Lowell First Thursdays, and an adjunct professor in the art department at Middlesex Community College.
