LOCATION: The Shop at Walden Pond is located at 915 Walden Street, Concord, MA across the street from Walden Pond. The Shop is located at the Walden Pond State Reservation headquarters.
DESCRIPTION: The Shop at Walden Pond is where Henry D. Thoreau, the great American philosopher and writer, spent two years, two months, and two days in a cabin he built and where he supported himself by manual labor.
All purchases at the Shop and eStore support the Thoreau Society’s Mission. Founded in 1941, the Thoreau Society is the oldest and largest organization devoted to an American author. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with members in 48 states and 25 countries around the world.
MISSION: The Thoreau Society exists to stimulate interest in and foster education about Thoreau’s life, works, legacy and his place in his world and in ours, challenging all to live a deliberate, considered life.
