Looking for some fall activities to do this September? Below we’ve compiled a list of some of the upcoming fairs and festivals in the Merrimack Valley and the greater area.

Lowell Irish Festival

September 17th

50 East Merrimack Street, Lowell MA 01852

Head to Lowell and celebrate Irish heritage at the Lowell Irish Festival! With live Irish music, delicious food, craft beer, and an even craftier craft tent — you’re sure to find an activity enriched with Irish culture and fun for the whole family. The main stage will feature the Heavey Quinn Irish Dancers with multiple performances throughout the afternoon. With multiple stages and acts scheduled to perform, you can lean back and relax (or dance of course!) to the sounds of bands such as: Black Velvet Band, Boxty, Derrick Keane,  the Eli Cash Band, Erin Og, Irish Whispa, Killeeshil, and Shelagh O’Brien.

North Andover 2022 Fall Festival

September 17th

30 Andover Street, North Andover, MA 01845

The North Andover Fall Festival is back! On Saturday September 17th, in the North Andover Common the fall festival will be a wonderful day to bring the community together. Support local businesses and the North Andover Merchants Association. Vendors and artisans will be in attendance and of course plenty of food.

Good Pickin’ Farm

September 18th

5 Gould Road, Westford, MA 01886

In the greater Merrimack Valley, Good Pickin’ Farm is hosting a fall event with a very positive twist: it’s gluten free! This event is hosted by the Celiac Kids Connection to celebrate their community. There will also be events such as “Fun on the Farm” or “Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation” which you can register for ahead of time.

Fun on the farm will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and include hay rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, and even a photo booth out in the pumpkin patch. They will also have a class on how to make cider! If your family has a child who is living with celiac disease, this is a great opportunity to connect with other families and community members who also have celiac. A gluten-free lunch from 110 Grill will be served.

Annual Black & Brown-Owned Fall Market

September 24th and September 25th

153 Chickering Road, North Andover

Head to the Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens for an amazing fall festival. The Trustees who care for historical landmarks and conserve the land throughout Massachusetts have partnered with Merrimack Valley Black and Brown Voices to host this incredible annual event. Local Black and Brown businesses from across the Merrimack Valley will be attending. Get a jump start on the holiday shopping by visiting each table and the hand crafted gifts ready for you! The event will also have live music, food trucks, fall games and activities, and even a petting zoo to visit for you and the whole family. Purchase your tickets today

Topsfield Fair

September 30th to October 10th

207 Boston Street, Topsfield, MA 01983

For over 200 years, the Topsfield Fair has been a staple within our community. Celebrating agriculture and art, each day of the fair offers a variety of exhibitions and entertainment. Take a stroll through the galleries and see the winners of the art competitions. Even the culinary winners you can view (though tasting might not be an option). Grab a savory treat like the delicious, loaded baked potato. Or have a few helpings of the apple crisp and satisfy your sweet tooth. And then head over to the arena to see amazing demonstrations like horse pulling, oxen pulling, demolition derby, and more. These teams travel from across the states to be able to compete. Toward the end of your day at the Topsfield fair, don’t forget to see the giant pumpkin that may or may not break records again.
