Free Child Care Dates Set for Remainder of Season
MRT Partnership with Acre Family Child Care Continues
Lowell, MA – After successfully piloting a Child Care program this fall, Merrimack Repertory Theatre has announced the dates for the program for the remainder of the 2015-16 Season. Licensed child care providers from Acre Family Child Care will provide age-appropriate activities and supervision for children ages 0 – 10 at no cost to the family during the following performances:
“The White Chip” – Saturday, January 23, 4:00 pm
“Tinker to Evers to Chance” – Wednesday, February 17, 7:30 pm
“The Realness: a break beat play” – Saturday, March 27, 4:00 pm
“Home of the Brave” – Thursday, May 5, 7:30 pm
Reservations for the child care must be made in advance through the MRT Box Office at 978-654-4678 and are only available to ticket holders for those performances. The program is funded, in part, by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council. More information about the program can be found at mrt.org/childcare.
By offering the child care at no cost to the patrons, MRT hopes to expand access to its productions. Executive Director Elizabeth Kegley says, “We want MRT to be accessible to everyone, and we know that sometimes the barrier isn’t the ticket price so much as the cost of a sitter and the hassle of arranging a night out. We’re so lucky to have a valuable partner in Acre Family Child Care to help us bring this idea to fruition.”
Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) has been Merrimack Valley’s professional theatre company since 1979, and is an integral part of Lowell’s identity as the cultural heart of the region. The company is known for its high production standards and for creating compelling new plays and regional premieres that reflect the lives and emotions of its audiences. MRT is one of just three theatres in Massachusetts that is a member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), which has 72 members nationwide.
