Governor Baker has announced a series of new restrictions today aimed at curtailing the recent spike in COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth. While the Governor will not be rolling back the phased re-opening of the MA economy, these steps will impact operations and capacities for businesses in the travel and hospitality sector.
Permitted indoor gatherings at private places will decrease from 25 people to 10 people, while private outdoor gatherings will go from 50 people to 25. These gatherings are to disperse by 9:30pm. Gatherings in public spaces and event venues will remain the same – 25 indoor and 50 outdoor.
Restaurant table service must end by 9:30pm, though takeout service is still allowed after that time. Gyms, theaters, and casinos will also have to close by 9:30pm. Please review the full list of businesses that must close by 9:30pm.
The Governor announced a more stringent face-covering order. Whereas the older mask advisory applied only to situations where individuals could NOT maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet, the new measure requires masks in ALL public places. In addition, the Governor issued a stay-at-home advisory to be observed between 10pm-5am.
These changes go into effect at 12:01am this Friday, November 6.
