What: Czech composer Anton Dvorak was already world famous when he arrived in New York City in 1892. The “new world” inspired some of his best work, including one of the greatest cello concertos of all time. Our soloist, Jennifer Kloetzel, brings her robust, earthy tone to our stage in this magnificent piece. Beethoven’s compelling, expansive Third Symphony ushers in the Romantic era. Originally dedicated to the supposed liberator of Europe, Beethoven famously re-titled the monumental work “Sinfonia Eroica” when Napoleon, the conquering hero, turned tyrant.
