LOWELL GALLERY RAISES FUNDS FOR UMASS SCHOLARSHIP

Exhibit Title: Four by Four for Education

Exhibit and Preview: Now through March 12, 2016

Fundraising Event: March 12, 2:00 to 5:00 pm
SNOW DATE March 13

The Four By Four Exhibit raises funds for a UMass Lowell Art Scholarship. This scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 is granted to a deserving University of Massachusetts student majoring in the visual arts.

We asked visual artists to create a  4” by 4” work of art. The Brush Art Gallery provided a blank, stretched canvas. Artists created artwork with whatever media and materials they preferred. Each artist has donated their time and talent to this program.

The day of the fundraising event, guests buy tickets and everyone leaves with a work of art. Names are drawn at random and your place in line is determined by the drawing. Be prepared with a list of choices. One Hundred Twenty Three canvases and artist’s names can be viewed online at this link

Tickets are $25 and are purchased at the door.

As an added attraction, UMass student artwork will be on display in conjunction with the Four by Four exhibit.

The Brush Art Gallery and Studios is located in the Lowell National Historical Park across the courtyard from the Visitor Center. This dynamic and captivating place was originally founded by the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission, U.S. Department of the Interior in 1982. The Brush presents museum quality exhibitions, educational programs, and has collaborated with many other nonprofit groups. Artists occupy studio spaces to interact with and educate the public on a weekly basis. Currently, thirteen studio artists produce paintings, illustration, photography, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, quilts, and handwoven items. Associate artists display work in the common area. The Brush Art Gallery and Studios is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. The Brush is supported by Lowell National Historical Park and Eastern National.
