Lowell and the Arts
Over the last several years, Lowell has been establishing its status as a world-class arts destination. With galleries and artist lofts occupying much of its former mill and factory space, the city is a vibrant magnet for artists and art lovers; indeed, “Art is the Handmaid of Human Good” is the city’s motto. Music venues, performance spaces, museums and restaurants round out the city’s cultural scene, making it a must-visit location in the Greater Merrimack Valley. Merrimack Repertory Theatre stands out as the city’s—and the region’s—only professional theatre, and brings to the Merrimack Valley plays that are complelling, thought-provoking, and expertly performed and designed.

Keeping the Valley on the Cultural Map
By offering a discount to guests at area hotels, MRT hopes to enhance the region’s reputation as a center of activity in the arts. Visitors from around the region and beyond will be drawn to experience the diverse cultural offerings in Lowell, including Merrimack Repertory Theatre’s season of professional theatre, and the city’s stellar shops, restaurants, and galleries. According to the coordinator of the hotel partner program, Marketing Associate Michael Glicksman, “When people think of an arts destination in New England, we want them to think of Lowell, and MRT is proud to be a part of all that this city has to offer.”

Discount Programs
In addition to the Hotel Partner Program, MRT also has several other discount programs in place to make professional theatre accessible for all. The first performance of each run is designated as $5 Night, Lowell residents get $10 tickets at the first Wednesday evening performance, and discounts are also available to students, seniors, and members of the military.
