“Mister Magnificent’s Magical Merrimack Adventure”
Book Launch, November 15, 2016
LOWELL, MA — Join fellow educators to celebrate the release of “Mister Magnificent’s Magical Merrimack Adventure,” a new children’s book by Ingrid Hess, UMass Lowell Assistant Professor of Art and Design, Tuesday, November 15th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Listen to a reading by the author, view an exhibit of original artwork, make your own cut-paper art, and receive a free copy of the book. Authored especially for 3rd and 4th graders and a perfect companion to the Tsongas Industrial History Center’s Change in the Making field-trip program, “Mister Magnificent” magically blends literature, history, and art into a story about Lowell’s past and present.
In creating this book about Lowell’s history, Ingrid Hess collaborated with staff of Lowell National Historical Park and the Tsongas Industrial History Center, as well as with UMass Lowell faculty and a class of Lowell third-graders. All school groups who attend the Tsongas Industrial History Center’s Change in the Making field-trip program this year will receive a copy of the book, as will local community organizations serving Lowell’s youth. The publication of “Mister Magnificent” was made possible with support from Lowell National Historical Park. The book launch is supported in part by the UMass Lowell College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
