PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Loading Dock Gallery
122 Western Avenue
Lowell, MA

Show: Mysterious and Unexpected
Show dates: September 28-October 30, 2016
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 1, from 5-7pm

This fall, while days shorten and temperatures fall, artists of the Loading Dock Gallery explore the Mysterious and Unexpected. Savor their work — enigmatic, spooky, profound — this October at the Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell.

Curator Michele Boll explains, “All really good art has a sense of mystery about it. What draws us to a particular piece? It is an emotional connection that goes beyond mere logic or words.”  Ann Lee collages dark fabrics; her stitched text dances among threads and squares. Mixed media artist Linda Dunn layers photos on old handkerchiefs, editing the images with computer software and paint. Each work in Mysterious and Unexpected offers some kind of twist, where memory and imagination intertwine.

During the reception Saturday October 1, the Loading Dock Gallery and Western Avenue Studios also host the Second Annual Poetry Convergence. Local writers will read work inspired by the Mysterious and Unexpected. Visitors are invited to discuss their reactions with the artists, poets, and each other.

Updike said “art offers a certain breathing room for the spirit.” Refresh your spirit at Mysterious and Unexpected this October at the Loading Dock Gallery.

Mysterious and Unexpected runs from September 28-October 30, 2016 in the Loading Dock Gallery, Western Avenue Studios, Lowell, MA. Join the opening reception on Saturday, October 1, from 5 to 7pm, after the monthly First Saturday Open Studios from noon to 5pm.

The Loading Dock Gallery is a part of Loading Dock Arts. It is open Wednesday through Saturday, 12 noon to 5:30pm, Thursday evenings until 8:30pm, and Sunday, 12 noon to 4pm. For more information, call 978-656-1687, or visit theloadingdockgallery.com
