Plus ONE Recent Work by Anne Cook and Mary Hart
Exhibit Runs: April 5 – 30, 2016
Public Reception: April 9, 4 to 7 PM
Lowell, MA: Uncharted Gallery is pleased to present the work of two Lowell artists and educators, Anne Cook and Mary Hart. The exhibit will be on display April 5th through the 30th.
The work of the two artists shows widely contrasting styles, but establishes a resonance in their intense approach. Plus ONE presents their new work in the lively setting of the recently opened Uncharted Gallery, a neighborhood café and bar that is quickly becoming a magnet for art, music and performance.
Anne Cook, who attended Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Philadelphia is primarily a painter, working in acrylic. Her carefully composed still life paintings reflect her studies in Europe and love of Flemish Renaissance painters. Tapping her extensive experience in landscape and mural painting, Anne will present the first showing of her newly completed series of Lowell landscapes. Anne is a full time substitute teacher in the Lowell school system.
Mary Hart is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and teaches Graphic Design at Middlesex Community College. Her work reflects a long fascination with letter forms and communication, using shape and color to modify the message of words contained in the paintings.“ By using letters large and small, and text panels embedded into the paintings as collage, I try to create a tapestry of visual information”, says Hart, who describes herself as a type wonk and sign painter.
Both artists live in Lowell and are active in the Lowell arts scene.
Uncharted is located at 103 Market Street in downtown Lowell, MA and is open from 11 AM to Midnight, Tuesday through Saturday
