THE BLUE JAZZ MEMORY EXHIBITION by Ismael Rosado

Lowell, MA: Arts organizer Mary Hart announces “The Blue Jazz Memory,” an exhibition of paintings by artist Ismael Rosado, on display at TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar in downtown Lowell, from May 1 through July 31, 2017.
The public is invited to attend a reception on Thursday, May 18, from 6-8 PM at TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar. Live music by Venezuelan musician, Eduardo Betancourt, will accompany the exhibit reception. The artist suggests a dress code of blue attire.
Ismael’s art is filled with vibrant colors, shapes, strokes and dominant energetic lines. “I feel my heart is free, flowing with thousands of ideas and options that at many times lend my work to different techniques. This is my humble homage to those who allowed me to express with the soul,” Ismael explains.
The exhibition features art works that are inspired by some of the great names in Jazz of the golden age as well as the improvisational style of painter Jackson Pollock. Rosado associates Pollock’s artistic style, called Action Painting, with jazz. It’s a style that was “born of a need to have a voice with which to express himself,” he says.
Ismael takes inspiration from artists Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Pollock, and Santiago Calatrava, among others, as well as, of course, many musicians. He works out of his studio at Appleton Mills in Lowell.
Reception musician Eduardo Betancourt is a traditional Venezuelan musician, producer, arranger, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He has given concerts and harp clinics world-wide.
TreMonte Pizzeria Restaurant and Bar is located at 44 Palmer Street in Lowell. It opens at 11:30 AM daily and closes at 10 PM on Sunday – Tuesday, 10:30 PM Wednesday and Thursday and 11 PM on Friday and Saturday.
Mary Hart is a Lowell resident, an artist member of the Arts League of Lowell (ALL), the founder of Downtown Lowell First Thursdays, and an adjunct professor in the art department at Middlesex Community College.
