She joins the professional team of Director of Marketing and Communications Liz Stewart, and President and Executive Director Sara Bogosian. Baerman has extensive experience in working with museums, galleries and historic homes. She is presently working in visitor services at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, is a curatorial intern at the New England Quilt Museum, and was a curatorial intern at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. She also was a summer fellow at Historic Deerfield, a gallery attendant at Maine Art Painting and Sculpture, and the Artrage Gallery. Baerman holds a B.A. in Art History and Philosophy and a minor in German from Syracuse University, College of Arts and Sciences. She also attended the Freie Universitat Berlin, in Berlin, Germany and studied advanced-level German language and German Art History. She has received the Syracuse University Scholar Award and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. “Our mission is to not only preserve the heritage of the birthplace of one of America’s premier painters, James McNeill Whistler,” says President & Executive Director Sara Bogosian, “but to create awareness of our 19th Century American art collections and our contemporary art gallery on a local, national and international scale. Brooke and Liz each bring a unique set of professional skills and experience that will strengthen and propel our mission forward. We are thrilled to have them as part of the Whistler House Museum of Art organization.” Stewart brings 11 years of small business retail and marketing experience to the Whistler House. She has done arts marketing and public relations for the Western Avenue Studios Artist Association, Lowell Open Studios, and the Cultural Organization of Lowell. She joined the museum in July of 2015. Stewart holds a B.S in Computer Science from WPI in Worcester, MA. She is the owner of Lush Beads, a jewelry design studio at the Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. She also works for the Cultural Organization of Lowell, doing events marketing for the City of Lowell and cultural institutions throughout the city. She is a member of the Western Avenue Studios Artist Association, the Arts League of Lowell, and the Lowell Art Association, Inc. The Whistler House Museum of Art, located in Lowell, Massachusetts, is the historic birthplace of the famous American artist, James McNeill Whistler. Established in 1878, as the Lowell Art Association Inc., it is the oldest incorporated art association in the United States. It is known internationally for its distinguished collection of 19th and early 20th century New England representational art. The Whistler House hosts many exhibits, lectures, educational and community programs, concerts and an array of social events in the residence, gallery and adjoining Victorian park.
