Ice cream is a delicious treat any time of the year, but as temperatures rise and the weather grows sunnier, the more we crave it. That’s why you need to know where the best places to get ice cream are in the Merrimack Valley. Whether you have children or just a massive sweet tooth, you’ll want to check out these must-taste ice cream destinations.

Extreme Sundaes

Playing laser tag, mini-golf, and games in the arcade at Merrimack Valley Pavilion is fun, but it builds up an appetite. So why not refuel and indulge with a sweet treat at the cafe?

Featuring Richardson’s Ice Cream, the cafe features elaborate sundaes that will make your eyes pop and excite your taste buds. Toppings include gummy candies, cookies, whipped cream, several different kinds of sauces, and more! New and seasonal sundaes are always being introduced, so be sure to ask your server what’s the latest scoop.

Local Flavor

Heritage Farm Ice Cream & Restaurant has the feel of a classic ice cream parlor, complete with old-fashioned favorites like banana splits, sundaes, and malted frappes. The ice cream flavors include the classics like vanilla, mint chocolate chip, and cookies & cream, but also include more adventurous flavors like strawberry cheesecake and orange pineapple.

Feeling adventurous? Check out the Concoctions menu and Heritage Farm’s own ice cream creations. These include the bananarama shake, frosted brownie delight, creamsicle, and PB&J split. If you really love ice cream, try the Belly Buster; seven scoops of ice cream with every topping in the house! If you manage to finish it, you’ll be inducted into the Heritage Hall of Fame.

Forty Flavors of Ice Cream

Kimball Farm is more than just mini-golf, bumper cars, and batting cages. They’ve been making homemade ice cream for eighty years. Using only the freshest ingredients, they make sure every scoop of their 40+ flavors of ice cream is delicious. These flavors include black raspberry to Heath bar crunch to peanut butter chocolate chip to vanilla Swiss almond.

For an extra special treat, check out their rotating daily selection of featured flavors. They also have a selection of frozen yogurt, vegan, sherbert, sorbet, and sugar-free ice creams. Popular flavors sell out quickly, so don’t be afraid to call ahead and see what’s available that day!

Retro Soda Fountain

Mill No. 5 is known as a center for unique dining, shopping, and entertainment, and that includes ice cream. Fitting the mill’s eclectic style, you’ll find your taste buds taking you to Dow’s Soda Fountain.

This retro restaurant will take you back in time with classic milkshakes, sundaes, or just a scoop of ice cream from Toscanini’s. Take any classic soda drink and turn it into an ice cream float for $1 more. There’s even vegan ice cream from FoMu for the dairy-free!

There’s no wrong way to enjoy ice cream, and there’s a flavor out there for everyone. While you’re exploring the Merrimack Valley, be sure to treat yourself to ice cream, whether in a cone, a cup, a sundae, or a milkshake.
