LOCATION: Thoreau Farm is located at 341 Virginia Road in Concord, Mass., opposite Elm Brook Lane. The site is handicapped accessible. Parking is free. (Please park around back, not on Virginia Road.)
DESCRIPTION: The Thoreau Farm Trust, a nonprofit organization, is committed to preserving Thoreau’s birth house. It believes Thoreau’s extraordinary insights into life, nature, and social responsibility are as relevant today as they were during his lifetime. It hopes you will find his birthplace a source of inspiration for living deliberately, practicing simplicity, and exploring new ideas for positive change.
TOURS: The Thoreau birthplace is open for tours on Saturdays and Sundays from early May through late October. Visits to the house are by guided tour only. Tours are at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. You do not need to take a tour to visit the grounds. You may also arrange a tour at another time by contacting Thoreau Farm at info@thoreaufarm.org or 978.451.0300.
