#AdventuresAwait attraction of the week:
The Brush Art Gallery & Studios
256 Market Street, Lowell MA
LOCATION: The Brush Art Gallery and Studios is located in the Lowell National Historical Park across the courtyard from the Visitor Center. Parking is available in the lot at 304 Dutton Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
DESCRIPTION: This dynamic and captivating place was originally founded by the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission, U.S. Department of the Interior. The Brush presents museum quality exhibitions, educational programs, and has collaborated with many other nonprofit groups. Artists occupy studio spaces to interact with and educate the public on a weekly basis. Currently, eleven studio artists produce paintings, illustration, photography, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, quilts, and hand woven items. Associate artists display work in the common area.
The Brush Art Gallery and Studios is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. The Brush is supported by the Lowell National Historical Park and Eastern National.
Our mission is to nurture the working artist; to keep the visual arts alive and healthy in Lowell’s Historic district; to use art to focus attention on important social and environmental issues; to demonstrate through exhibitions and cultural programming the diverse and rich heritage that exists in Lowell; and to make Lowell a destination for viewing some of the finest art being produced in New England and beyond.
UPCOMING EVENTS: Visit the Four by Four for Education Exhibit from February 24th until March 24th. The Four by Four raises funds for the Brush Scholarship and Special Perspectives. A $1000 scholarship is granted to a deserving UMass Lowell art student. Special Perspectives programming brings art instruction to challenged adults.
