The WHMA is excited to present a collection of works by Glenn Szegedy
Glenn Szegedy is a Lowell area artist who has been creating art for the last 20 years. Retiring early from a human services career, Glenn went back to school at the age of 40 and received his BFA in drawing and sculpture from the University of New Hampshire.
A longtime resident of Lowell, he now lives in Dracut, Massachusetts, where he works from a home studio. A resident of Western Ave Studios for 10 years, he now prefers the privacy and quiet of working from his home studio. He has a long history of exhibiting work throughout New England and has many works in private collections.
Glenn has had the opportunity to curate several exhibitions throughout the state. He also held the curatorial position at the Loading Dock Gallery for several years. Teaching has been a passion of Glenn’s and he has had many opportunities to do so in the Lowell area including the Youth Summer Art Program at the Whistler House Museum of Art and at special classes at Community Teamwork (CTI).
Over the years, Glenn’s creative work has varied from sculpture and ceramics to printmaking and painting in addition to other forms of artwork. He has spent the last 3 years discovering portrait work.
While creating the images from “The Power of One” show, he said “I slowly began to see the importance and beauty of individuals, not beauty queens, nor billionaires or movie stars, but everyday people who create the rich, diverse communities we live in. Lowell has a wonderful, varied community with faces that create beautiful portraits.”
Along with his portrait work, Glenn is also an avid gardener and landscaper. He plans on continuing to divide his time between his love of working outside and his creation of all different art forms.
He is a member of the Whistler House Museum of Art and the Brush Gallery.
The WHMA is excited to share with you a collection of Glenn’s work. If you are interested in purchasing any of these artworks, contact the Whistler House Museum of Art at sbogosian@whistlerhouse.org or call (978) 807-6699.
