You scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream!

A sure sign that spring has arrived is when our neighborhood Ice Cream Shop opens.   After a glorious lunch time walk along the Merrimack River, without the fuss of gloves, hats and scarfs,  it was a perfect time to welcome back our friends at the Heritage Farm Ice Cream & Restaurant.   The Heritage Farm Ice Cream has a long history in the City of Lowell.  It was established in 1976 by the Howard Family of Waltham.   They named the stand, Heritage Farm Ice Cream to coincide with the building of the new Heritage State Park, along the Merrimack River, in 1974.    Today in addition to the ice cream stand,  there is a restaurant with seating for 46 and another 40 seats are available for events in their newest addition, the fireside dining room.   After a warm welcome, we enjoyed their soup and sandwich combo.   The tomato basil soup had a great texture with a good kick of basil and of course one of my favorite ice creams is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Yogurt.

Not only can you get great ice cream and food at Heritage Farm, free family entertainment can be found across the street at the Sampas Pavilion Stage located at the Heritage State Park, sponsored by the Heritage Farm Ice Cream and Restaurant throughout the summer.   On Monday evenings, enjoy a free concert, featuring the hottest bands from the local area, along with a Classic Car Show.  Wednesday is MiniMonstah Night and Thursday night is Kids Night with music provided by their resident DJ along with entertainment from local dance studios and martial arts schools.

Until next time, “You scream! I scream! We all scream for ice cream!”
