Scott D. Plath

Scott began his career in the restaurant business at age 13, as a dishwasher and bus boy at a popular Greek restaurant in NYC. The energy and theater he witnessed inspired his own and has remained a driving force ever since. After receiving his degree from the Hotel Restaurant Management program at UMASS Amherst, he honed his skills working in management and operations for the Sheraton Corporation, Hill Top Steakhouse and the 99 Restaurant before fulfilling a personal goal of restaurant ownership by the time he turned 30. Mr. Plath has spent over four impassioned decades developing a deep expertise in hospitality and the culinary arts while building two Merrimack Valley landmarks, Cobblestones of Lowell (est. 1994) and moonstones in Chelmsford (est. 2008), while employing and mentoring thousands of staff through the years. Mr. Plath was a founding member of Middlesex Community College Hospitality Advisory Committee and enjoyed teaching in the program. Scott and his wife Kathy have been ardent supporters of the Greater Lowell community and in doing so, Scott has served as a Director on a number of community Boards including, The Massachusetts Restaurant Association, The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell, and the Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau while raising many tens of thousands of dollars for charitable causes and leading the initiative to develop and launch a hot food program at the Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Plath’s monthly blog and column, “A view from the Kitchen” has received a growing readership since 2006 and can currently be enjoyed at www.SPlath.com. In his leisure time, when not visiting his (3) daughters or enjoying Lowell’s vast cultural scene surrounding his downtown condo, Scott enjoys taking the back roads throughout the Merrimack Valley to “research” and support other restaurants while dreaming about “what’s next!”
