Tour: Playing to Our Strengths: Highlights from the Permanent Collection

Join curatorial fellow Ricardo Mercado to explore highlights from the Addison’s permanent collection in two sections: the “ideal” and the “real.” The “ideal,” bringing together American Impressionist paintings with Pictorialist photography, and the “real,” featuring works by the Ashcan School and social realist photographs. Together, these works reveal how American artists of the era grappled with questions of beauty, truth, and the rapidly transforming character of modern life. This is the second exhibition in a series exploring particular strengths of the Addison’s renowned collection of art of the United States from the 17th century to the present day. This program is presented in partnership with Andover’s Memorial Hall Library.
