Why Visit Dracut?

Dracut is a beautiful and historic rural suburb on the Northern most border of MA – a borderline delineated almost 400 years ago by the King of England – cutting through the Mighty Merrimack River of the Penacook confederacy extendign thousands of miles all the way to the Pacific Coast.

We are proud Yankee farmers…Red Sox fans whose forefathers faced the Red Coats…a town with deep roots in the Industrial Revolution as one of the founding town territories in the formation of the city of Lowell, alongside Chelmsford and Tewksbury.

The Dracut Historical Society, Colburn House & Museum

I’ve taken Barbara’s tour and it is fantastic – she showed me a milk bottle with my family name on it from who knows how long ago, and it was right next to my best friend’s family name on one of the shelves! – a perspective altering experience as someone who is from here and didn’t know all this cool stuff about the town I’m from.

There’s vintage and boutique retail, a nice restaurant, Public Access TV Studio Equipment for public use, a gym, and moonlit metaphysical mindfulness.

Outdoors & Recreation

Cross Rd. Walking Trails

  • Approximately ¾ mile of trails accessing several vernal pools and rock formations with parking on Cross Rd. The parcel abuts the adjacent Rifle Range Conservation Area, so called as parts of it were once a Militia training ground. The Rifle Trail (2/3 mile each way) departs the Picnic Area and runs to the ruins of the former target area on this large parcel visible from Bridge St. The Peppermint Brook runs through the large area of wetlands. Many varieties of wildlife have been spotted here, including deer, coyote, smaller mammals, and waterfowl

Revolutionary Connections

Dracut has the highest percent (per capita) of anywhere in MA of eligible men sent to join the Revolutionary War militias.
